OSAMU M

(Kandarta)
OSAMU M began his DJ career in 1994 at the age of 17, quickly becoming a regular at Maniac Love, one of Japan’s most influential techno venues, where he honed his craft through monthly seven-hour sets. His exceptional skill and musical vision soon caught the attention of progressive house legend John Digweed, leading to multiple appearances on Digweed’s radio show Transitions. A one-hour mix composed entirely of his own originals and remixes caused a strong reaction among listeners and led to releases on labels such as Bedrock and Alternative Route. His distinctive style gained global recognition, taking him from major Tokyo clubs like WOMB and ageHa to dance floors around the world as a guest DJ.

After relocating to London, OSAMU M founded his own label, Outerspace Records, to further explore new expressions of house music. He released his debut album “Outerspace” with Satoshi Fumi, earning praise from top DJs including Laurent Garnier, Funk D’Void, Danny Howells, and Steve Lawler. During this period, he performed at events such as Funk D’Void’s VIVE LE DEEP, Nic Fanciulli’s CLUB CLASS, and London’s iconic Ministry of Sound. Following his return to Japan, he continued performing internationally, including successful tours across South America, and has now appeared as a guest DJ in 16 countries worldwide.

In 2011, he launched his long-running party LIBERATION at Nishi-Azabu eleven and appeared at major festivals including Fuji Rock Festival. From 2015, he performed for five consecutive years on the RESISTANCE stage at Ultra Japan, and in 2018 headlined as a Japanese artist alongside Sven Väth. His performance was later broadcast on UMF Radio, further raising his international profile.

Around the same time, he co-founded BLACK ON IT with Masanori Morita (Studio Apartment), later relocating the event to WOMB, where it continues today as one of the venue’s flagship parties. In 2022, OSAMU M appeared on the RESISTANCE stage at Ultra Korea alongside artists such as Adam Beyer, reaffirming his position as a leading figure in Japan’s house and techno scene.

In 2020, he formed the cinematic techno unit Kandarta with Hideo Kobayashi. Their 2022 release “Moon Illusion” was widely praised for its powerful beats, evolving synth loops, and emotionally charged progression. In 2023, OSAMU M launched NEURON at WOMB, inviting artists including Mathame, Stephan Bodzin, Hunter/Game, 19:26, SOEL, and Yubik, delivering standout performances that solidified his unique presence.

In June 2024, he appeared with The Blaze at NEO, hosted by Mathame at Amnesia Ibiza. The performance received strong acclaim, leading to a return invitation for the closing party in September, where his B2B set with Mathame made a significant impact.

In May 2025, OSAMU M established the NEURON label and released “Kaguya” and “Cerasite”, with remixes by SOEL and Hunter/Game, marking the next chapter in his evolving artistic journey.
